Provence Var

NC France Immobilier covers one region, but two completely different worlds.

The first world offers you the Var region of Provence.

The Var is probably what everyone dreams of when they think of the South of France. There are fields of lavender, olive groves, vineyards, pretty medieval villages with terracotta roof-tops, bustling markets and the Mediterranean sea. The Var is the second "greenest" region in France.

For many property buyers, they prefer to buy in the beautiful hills behind the coast, which offers the best of both worlds – the quiet, relaxing charming villages, but access to the beaches and the coast within half an hour if you can tear yourself away!

The inland Var areas offer considerably more property for your money than its Côte d’Azur neighbours.

Villages

The Var covers the idyllic inland countryside dotted with stone farmhouses and medieval villages perched on the top of hills. The landscape is covered with vineyards, olive groves and carpet fields of lavender.

Our office is located in the heart of the beautiful medieval hill top village of Fayence, on the far eastern side of the Var. Fayence is a bustling market town with a real charm all year round. Considered as the gateway to the Var, it enjoys amazing views of the mountains to the north and the Esterel hills to the south. Only 30 minutes from Cannes, yet it feels a million miles away.

NC France Immobilier covers the whole of the “canton de Fayence”, including, amongst others, the villages of Callian, Montauroux, Seillans, Tourrettes, St Paul en Foret, Bargemon, Mons, all of which offer very different characteristics, but all are equally charming.

Moving further west, NC France Immobilier also covers the stunning colourful countryside around Lorgues, including villages such as Les Arcs, La Motte, Salernes, Villecroze, Aups, Flayosc, Le Muy. This is the gateway to the “Grand Canyon of Verdon” which is one of the most spectacular sights in France, and we are lucky enough to include it in our region. This series of gorges are simply breath-taking when explored by car or foot. If this is not daring enough for you, other means of exploration are on offer, including rock climbing, white water rafting and bungee jumping!

Moving even further west, NC France Immobilier also covers the villages of Cotignac, Carces, Entrecasteaux, Montfort sur Argens. The landscape around these areas is stunningly beautiful, with miles of gently rolling hills covered with vineyards and olive groves. Although still very popular with holiday makers, these villages can often offer more property for your money, as they are further away from the Cote d’Azur. However, accessibility is also increased by the proximity to Marseilles airport, and still less than 90 minutes from Nice.

Climate

Provence Var enjoys a Mediterranean climate of long hot summers and short mild winters.

Holiday Rental Market

There is a constantly high demand for holiday rental properties across the whole area, particularly during the popular summer months, meaning that property owners can command extremely high seasonal rents. For example, an average 4 bedroom villa with a pool can command around 3000 euros per week in the school summer holidays.

Activities

The variation of activities to suit you all year round are endless.

There are numerous golf courses throughout the whole area, including 2 world-class golf courses at the Four Seasons Resort, La Terre Blanche in Tourrettes/Fayence. Fayence is also home to a world famous gliding centre and nearby Lake St Cassien is well-known for fishing and water sports. There is also a wealth of chateaux, monasteries, antique shops and art galleries scattered in every corner of the region.

All along the coast, water-based activities are in abundance - windsurfing, scuba diving and yacht hire, to name but a few. The Var's relaxing atmosphere provides the perfect setting to settle in under a shady village square, enjoy the local wine accompanied by regional delicacies, whilst being entertained by a traditional game of boules. There is never a shortage of local exhibitions, village fêtes, traditional Provencal markets, and wine & olive festivals to ensure the good life is sustained for Provence property owners.
Outdoor dining is the norm for the best part of the year, at the many restaurants, auberges and cafes which offer the gastronomic experience that you rightly expect from the South of France.

Provence Var region boasts a rich and varied history, from the Roman arenas of Frejus and isolated abbeys in the hills to the more recent opulence of the belle époque glamour of the 20th century.

With activities such as water parks, wine tasting tours, perfumery visits, white water rafting, Cannes Film Festival and Monaco Grand Prix, there is never a shortage of events and activities in this amazingly colourful, bustling, beautiful part of the world.

Access

With most of the villages that we cover sitting less than 30 minutes from the A8 motorway, access to the rest of the south of France and beyond is easy.

Access by air from the rest of Europe could not be easier, with Nice airport only 45 minutes drive from Fayence, and one hour from Lorgues. Marseilles airport is only one hour from Cotignac.

Les Arcs-sur-Argens is situated in the centre of our region, which is home to the most local TGV (high speed train) station, which also stops at St Raphael, and continues along the coast. Paris to Les Arcs direct train now takes just over 4 hours.
